In Honor of Veterans

I enlisted in the Air Force during the last year of the Vietnam War.  Although I never saw combat, I served with many who did. I can't imagine the fear and loneliness they must have felt.

I wrote this cinquain to honor all the brave men and women who have served our country.

    I hope you'll write poems about your experiences in the Air Force, Linda — as well as the situations and thoughts/feelings that led to enlisting. You'll have a YA novel in verse there!

      Janet, I'm not sure why I haven't written more about those experiences. I should do that. The AF changed my life. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Thank you for your service, Linda. I have many in my family who have served & I am proud of them, grateful for them. Your poem is one for vets to smile over!

    Thank you for your service. I'm with Janet -- your perspective as a woman and from the Vietnam War era would be important additions to our understanding of war, peace, and those who serve our country!
