We've had a mild January with above average temperatures. On Wednesday, we got our first snowfall of the year. Our neighborhood was decorated in white. The weather forecast told us it would last long so I walked toward a wooded area near my house and snapped this picture.
A big thank you to Jan at Book Seed Studio for hosting this week's Poetry Friday.
The snow and rain together -- what a bafflement!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was! The snow only lasted a couple hours. : (
DeleteAppreciations for capturing the competition of frozen wet with liquid wet Linda.
ReplyDeleteAppreciations for offering t his lovely competition between frozen wet & liquid wet!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan!
DeleteWonderful capture, Linda. I did see about this strange weather & we've had snow & cold much of January, unusual for the month. Love your showing of the sadness of those "bare branches".
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. I felt a little sad too.
DeleteThe forecast for Wednesday was so dire that all the local schools called off...and then it only rained!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get as much as expected either, and it was gone within a couple of hours. I'm sure the kids loved the day off of school, but they would have enjoyed it more if they could play in the snow. : )
ReplyDeleteYea for snow! We had some on Wednesday, too, but ours still lingers. I like the bare branches embracing each flake
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kay.
DeleteI've admired the snow this winter - it's created some beautiful scenes that has inspired my writing. Snow and rain together is as strange as thunder during the winter! If you like the snow, I hope you receive more! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSnow inspires my writing too. I hope we have a bit more before winter is over.
DeleteSooooooooo pretty! Did you have ice after the rain?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. No ice, thank goodness.
DeleteLucky you! I'm so glad you got some snow. Still waiting on ours. Maybe a flurry is coming this week. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been crazy. Last week, it was in the 30's. Today, it felt like spring! : )
DeleteIsn't it lovely, to catch the snow still upon branches, if for only a moment?
ReplyDeleteYes, I made sure to enjoy the snow while it lasted. : )
ReplyDeleteHooray! The first snowfall always has a bit more magic to me:)
ReplyDeleteYes, it does feel like magic! : )
DeleteI think I already commented, but now I'm worried maybe I forgot to hit publish. I love this poem and photo, and I'm glad you were there to appreciate the beauty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura. I'm hoping we'll get a bit more snow this winter, but the forecast around here for February is "warmer than average." : (
ReplyDeleteEnchanting pic Linda, and you capture both in your poem, before the rain, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle!
