We have been having a wintery mix here today. I stood outside looking at icicles hanging from the tree limbs, and there almost hidden among the branches was a tiny nest, empty and silent. Although the trees looked beautiful, I couldn't help wishing for spring.
this empty gray nest once home to the sparrows' song silently sleeps cradled in winter's branches awaits the music of spring
Wintery mix here too.Not yet the beautiful kind but hoping for some big soft flakes by this afternoon. You poem perfectly captures that wistful feeling..
Linda,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Today (Wednesday) we're having rain, which is turning all the snow to slush. It's quite gray and mushy here.
I like your poem inspired by the empty nest.
Thanks, Elaine. We're having a wintry mix here again today. The trees are so pretty with all the ice covering them.
ReplyDeleteSo simple and beautiful. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janet.
