#wonderbreak NPM Gratitude Poems

Before Recycling

one jar
almost empty
peanut butter plus dog
equals tongue-lapping, lip-smacking—
all gone

I thankful for the wonderful pictures people post of their pets. My daughter-in-law posted this picture of her dog, Rosie on Facebook.  I can imagine how much fun she had licking that peanut butter jar clean.  I don't have a dog, and I did not know they like peanut butter.  I did a little research and found a cute video.  If you need a smile, take a look.

A big thank you to Tabatha for hosting today's poetry roundup at The Opposite of Indifference.

  1. Oh, yes they DO like peanut butter. My dog's best friend (neighbor's dog down the street) is known as the "jealous" in peanut butter and jealous team they make when they visit each other. Empty peanut butter jars are a delicious treat!
I love how you capture that in your words. Nicely done. Have a great week.

  2. I like that "one jar / almost empty" --that's the way a peanut butter jar is. One of our dogs really liked peanut butter. Once he jumped up to get a slice of bread with pg&j out of my husband's hand. It was hilarious to watch him try to manage that much pb on bread in his mouth. It's not like licking it. Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. I do know that dogs love peanut butter, but never gave mine the "almost empty" jar. Love your topic that turned into your gratitude, Linda.

  4. I could relate to this post. I have three dogs and they love peanut butter. Once I open the jar, they could smell it and they'll start begging for some. That bit at the end was quite an accurate description of how they are.

  5. What a fun picture and poem! Our poor dog (a mostly outdoor dog) doesn't get much peanut butter, but she enjoys eating almost anything-the grosser, the better in her eyes.

  6. That is so much better than soaking out the last sticky dregs! Great video, too.

  11. How adorable! "tongue-lapping" is a great description. We have squirrels who will raid our recycling/trash for conatiners of various kinds (nutella, peanut butter, hummus).
